Developing a global perspective as a Grand Challenge Scholar is necessary to tackle the challenges in a fast changing environenment. In order to increase my awarness of the challenges in global health care, I decided to take ASB 100: Introduction to Global Health. This class focused on understanding the main causes of disease around the works and how to promote health in a globalized world.

As a freshman, I decided to study abroad through one of the Barrett programs in London, Dublin and Edinburgh. During this program I took two classes that encompassed readings that submerged us in the history of the places we visited. The first course was HON 378: Culture & Society in England, Ireland and Scotland, which covered history topics from Julius Ceasar to the proclamations the Irish Republic. The second class was HON 394: Immigrant Cultures in England, Ireland & Scotland, where we learned more about the formation of communities in different cities.
