To fulfill the Service Learning hours for the Grand Challenge Scholars Program, I completed four semesters of EPICS. I spent my first semester of EPICS working on the Rio Salado Bridge project. The goal of this project was to design a pedestrian bridge to cross the Rio Salado River. As this project was determined infeasible at the conclusion of the semester, I moved to a new project for the next semester of EPICS. I spent my remaining three semesters in EPICS working on project GreenAir; a project I had started to design and build a renewable air compressor for use in impoverished rural villages without access to electricity. Overall, my experience in EPICS was crucial as it gave me extensive experience in leading engineering projects, and taught me about the engineering design process.
