For the interdisciplinary component of GCSP, I completed two courses: FSE 150: Perspectives on Grand Challenges for Engineering and BIO 312: Bioethics.

FSE 150 was meant to give first year Grand Challenge Scholars an introduction to the NAE Grand Challenges, and help students decide which Grand Challenge theme to focus on for the completion of the program. Through this course, I learned about the components of the program, heard speakers from each theme, and explored new technological advancements to determine where my interests lie.

Bioethics was a hybrid course which studied the ethical debates surrounding new technologies in the health field. This course was a great opportunity to explore topics outside of my field of study, and learn about how technologies that impact human life can create many complex ethical dilemmas.
