My name is Kiana Ghazouli, I am an undergraduate Computer Science student graduating in May 2018. In addition to my major, I have a minor in Justice Studies and a certificate in Entrepreneurship. Due to my love of learning, I chose Education as my theme for the duration of the Grand Challenge Scholars Program. After graduating, I hope to use my technical skills in order to promote the democritization of education and ignite social change through open source projects. 

My experience with the Grand Challenge Scholars Program started my first year of college with FSE 150, which introduces the Grand Challenges of Engineering. I loved the class because it contextualized the importance of engineering and the important issues that it can solve. I was excited to be a part of a program that would expose me to an interdisciplinary curriculum and equip me with the tools to solve the Grand Challenges.

My experience in GCSP have proven to be a rewarding experience that has introduced me to some amazing faculty and opportunities. Throughout my time in the program, I have completed two years of EPICS, two semesters of research at the ANGLE (Advancing Next Generation Learning Enivronments), five classes I would not have taken otherwise, and embarked on a three-week study abroad in Nice, France. The resources offered to me through GCSP have allowed me to take full advantage of what ASU has to offer and grow as a student and individual.
