The Global Market project was developed by a group of graduate interns from the Office of Global Social Work, at Arizona State University . The concept of a pop-up store that is used by companies such as Amazon was considered, because it provides an opportunity of a low-cost and low-risk investment. With introducing this concept to the world of nonprofits, the Global Market project created collaboration between EBCOs, governmental entities, for-profit entities; in which they came together to establish a one month store at the heart of the City of Phoenix. The targeted population of refugees were able to obtain short-term revenue, gain experiences in retail, and understand how they can mark and produce consistent inventory for that period. They also learned to share their culture with the community of Arizona.

The most important part of this store project was to empower the women. All of the women working in the store are learning to track their own inventory, market their products, handle money, and be a key holder. It has been an absolute honor to watch these women gain more and more confidence each and every day. It was my own personal goal to help each and every one of these women to believe in themselves.
