Overall, I gained a lot of insights and skills beyond engineering through Grand Challenge Scholar Program. Without it, I wouldn't have gained the wealth of knowledge on entrepreneurship, global awareness on technological advances, and the impact technology and science have on society. Without the service learning opportunities through EPICS, I wouldn't have been able to meet inspiring students as well as gain a hands-on opportunity to prototype and discuss different solutions. From the research experience with the load cells, I was able to lead a research team as a sophomore and gain not only the ability to understand technical papers but also to implement them in real life.

Each of the components in the program connects to each other because without understanding the possible interdisciplinary and global changes from the technologies from the market research, the startup may fail and be branded as a harm to society. In addition, an engineer should always strive to serve the community by producing products that increase the well-being of the overall society (service learning). If there's any regret I have of the program, I wish I studied abroad for one of my global components so that I would be emersed in a different culture to see how they view the advances in technology.

Through GCSP, I was able to become a well-rounded engineer because I can apply what I have learned through the program to become more aware of the impact a technology I may be working on has on society. I also gained business skills that will be invaluable whether I pursue a corporate job or become an entrepreneur. I now have the tools to be successful through the program.

All in all, I really enjoyed the experience I had with GCSP and gained valuable friends that I will keep in touch with for the rest of my life.
