BW in National and Global Contexts
By Susan Naomi Bernstein
This paper:
- Engages metaphors from two major articles published in the Journal of Basic Writing in the 2000s
- Situates these metaphors in national and global contexts of the 2000s, and focuses on the aftermath of the 2008 economic crash
- Offers a pedagogical narrative that intersects with material realities of settler colonialism
- Invites the audience to consider Basic Writing's social justice imperative and to imagine the Future
