SCM Network Scholars

The Network Scholars program offers students a unique opportunity to connect with industry executives and senior faculty during their senior year of the W. P. Carey Supply Chain Management Program.

The Network Scholars program is a year long program (Fall – Spring). During the fall semester, students will take SCM 494 (Network Scholars), which will include significant interaction with the Network for Value Chain Excellence members. All elements of the Gartner Supply Chain Matrix will be discussed and students will gain key practical and academic knowledge in the following areas:

• New Product Development, Source, Make, Deliver, Customer Management, Governance, Strategy & Change Management, Performance Measurement & Analytics, Technology Enablement.

Upon completion of SCM 494, students will take SCM 479 with their Network Scholars cohort. The Network for Value Chain Excellence executive mentors will participate in this special section offering insights into the development of supply chain management strategies.

The Network Scholars program demands a rigorous level of involvement and participation with executives from the Network for Value Chain Excellence. Students must attend special events affiliated with the Network for Value Chain Excellence (1 per semester – typically an afternoon activity). Additionally, students must take SCM 494 (Network Scholars), which will count as 3 general elective credit hours as well as a special section of SCM 479. Active participation and attendance is mandatory for these courses.

The Network Scholars program is geared for seniors in the Supply Chain Management major. The application process for the program typically takes place at the beginning of the spring semester. Students will be evaluated on instructor feedback of classroom participation in SCM 345, professional experience, applicable campus involvement, evidence of leadership abilities, communication skills, interest in the supply chain field, and academic performance.
